#8 1998 Denver Broncos

The 1998 Broncos had a record of 14–2 which was the second best in NFL history. They ended up winning  Super Bowl XXXIII. The Broncos won their first thirteen games which gave them the best start since the unbeaten 1972 Miami Dolphins. The leader and the difference maker in this team was John Elway.  It was his final season after he had considered retiring. Another dominant player they had was Terrell Davis. He ran for 2,008 yards making him only the fourth player to rush for over 2,000 yards in a single season. Going into the Super Bowl, they had to face off against the Atlanta Falcons. They beat them 34-19 with Terrell having a great game by putting holes in their defense. In 2007, the 1998 Broncos were ranked as the 12th greatest Super Bowl champions in NFL history

#7 1962 Green Bay Packers

The 1962 Packers went into their 43rd season in the NFL. They posted a 13–1 record under coach Vince Lombardi. The Packers earned a first place finish in the Western Conference. The Packers ended the season by defeating the NY Giants 16–7 in the NFL championship game. The Packers had beat the the Giants twice for the championship. This marked the Packers' eighth NFL World Championship. ESPN ranked the 1962 Packers with the 5th best defense in NFL history. They had five defensive Hall of Famers that play on the defense. With a great defense it was very easy for the offense to execute which why they were such a dominant team.  

#6 1992 Dallas Cowboys

The 1992 Dallas Cowboys were going into their 33rd season in the NFL.  Jerry Jones purchased the team in 1989.  Jimmy Johnson was the head coach of the team and he brought one of the worst teams in NFL history to become Super Bowl champions in 1992.  Nobody expected Dallas to be a dominant team throughout the entire season of 1992.  They had an explosive offense and the number one ranked defense.  The Cowboys flew through there playoffs and went to the Super Bowl.  They went up against the Buffalo Bills.  The Bills had a dominant offense but the Cowboys shut them down with their hard nose defense.  The Cowboys won the Super Bowl 52-17 with a solid performance out of the defense.  The 1992 Cowboys had a incredible story with a dominant run in the 1992 season.

#5 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers

The 1979 Steelers had to defend their Super Bowl Championship from the previous year with a 12-4 record. The Steelers started out to a 4-0 record. Last season the Steelers had won 12 straight games in a row. In six of those games the opponents were held to a touchdown or less. In the playoffs,Pittsburgh defeated Miami, and then for the second time beat Houston in the AFC championship game. After that they headed to the Super Bowl and face off against the LA Rams. It was a close game for the first two quarters and then the Steelers defense began shutting down the Rams which led them to a 31-19 victory. 

#4 1989 San Francisco 49ers

The 1989 San Francisco 49ers was the team's 44th season in the NFL. They brought in a brand new head coach and his name was George Seifert. After going 14–2 in the regular season, the 49ers completed the season with the most dominant playoff run in NFL history. They outscored their opponents 126-26 and wont their fourth Super Bowl. Their quarterback Joe Montana  had one of the greatest passing seasons in NFL history in 1989. Montana set a NFL record with a passer rating of 112.4. In the Super Bowl, they faced off against the Denver Broncos. They ended up winning 55-10 with a solid game on both sides of the ball. Joe Montana had led their team to a dominant season which is now NFL history

#3 2007 New England Patriots

The Patriots finished the 2007 regular season by winning all sixteen of their games. They became only the fourth team in NFL history to finish a regular season undefeated. The first team to do this was the 1972 Dolphins. The Patriots were also the first team with a perfect regular season since the NFL expanded its schedule to sixteen games in 1978. The team finished their season 15-1 and headed to the Super Bowl. They went up against Eli Manning's NY Giants. If they were to win this game, they would have broken the 1972 Miami Dolphins record because they would of had more games won. Fortunately, they lost to them after a great back to back scoring game. Before the game, everyone was predicting the Pats to easily win the ball game with their powerful quarterback Tom Brady and their solid defense.

#2 1972 Miami Dolphins

The 1972 Miami Dolphins season was the team’s seventh season. And their third season in the NFL. The 1972 Dolphins are the only NFL team to win the Super Bowl with a perfect season. The undefeated team was led by coach Don Shula. The Dolphins went 14–0 in the regular season and won all three post-season games, including Super Bowl VII against the Washington Redskins. The team remains the only NFL team to complete an entire season undefeated. The closest team to repeat this record was the 2007 New England Patriots. People think that even though the Patriots didn't end up with a perfect season, they had a tougher schedule than the Dolphins. The stats show that the teams the Dolphins played had significantly worse records compared to the teams the Patriots had to play. At the end of the day, the record stands and the Dolphins hold an honorary NFL record that has still never been broken.
